Freshman Design Project – Automatic Chicken Coop Door
Goals of Project: design an automatic chicken coop door using a budget of $50. Extra points were given for not using a motor and our group did this by creatively combining an electromagnet, timer, and the naturally varying weight of the feeder throughout the day.
Project completed with three other partners. I came up with several of the last-minute redesign elements when the original plan did not work as intended and helped to build the prototype.
Image below shows our coop door mockup.
VEX Hydraulic Manufacturing Line (HS)
Goal of Project: code a robotic arm in conjunction with a hydraulically connected set of syringes and various VEX robotic parts to perform a repetitive block moving task.
Project completed with one other partner in a high school computer integrated manufacturing class. We both did an equal share of the designing, building, and coding.
Video below shows our system in action.
Omni Wheel Robot (HS)
Goal of Project: create a robot to follow a line and complete a course. Robot must use sensors and logic to react differently in different situations with cone and crossroad.
Project completed with one other partner in a high school computer integrated manufacturing class. We both did an equal share of the designing, building, and coding.
Video below shows a sample run while we were still troubleshooting the code.
